in Social Security benefits alone could cost each of us $1,000 or more over the next three years. It would push more than a million older persons into poverty in that same period.
Cutting Social Security and Medicare won’t really help the budget deficit - the Trust Funds cannot by law be,t used for any other purpose. Instead, ve’ve got to look at the real causes of the deficit - huge tax loopholes for corporations and excessive waste in defense spending.
