bold and silver — part of the loot from a $100 million drug trafficking operation based in Loudoun County — were dug up on a Fauquier County farm two weeks ago.
U.S. Assistant Attorney Karen Tandy admitted: “Some precious metals were uncovered on the farm.” But she refused to disclose the amount or their value.
Robert B. Reckmeyer, 30, of Centreville, one of the ringleaders of the drug ring, used to own Gibraltar, a 166-acre farm near Markham.
Reckmeyer and his brother Christopher were two of 26 people indicted Jan. 9 in the drug ring which operated about a decade. The drug operation centered at Shelburne Glebe, a 1,000-acre estate near Leesburg.
Both brothers pleaded guilty in March and will serve 10 to 20 years in prison.
As part of their plea bargains, the brothers agreed to help officials recover all “drug-related assets,” Ms. Tandy said.
Reckmeyer and his wife Patricia owned the farm from Oct. 9, 1980 to Nov. 15,1983.
