BERRYVILLE — It was a difficult struggle, but the 31st District Republicans managed to pull it off.
Their job was to nominate a House of Delegates candidate for the November election in time to let incumbent Republican Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. keep his timetable for Saturday.
They almost didn’t make it, because of a discussion on whether the district GOP should get together during non-election years to promote cohesiveness. The fact that Mr. Guest’s nominator, John Marlow of Warren County, got lost on the way to Duncan Memorial Methodist Church in Berryville also cost convention time.
It was uphill work for the nominating committee, according to Edith Pond of Rappahannock County.
