Funds allotted for repairs, tires, tubes, parts and supplies for the system’s vehicles was cut by $3,000 since the board reasoned that any excess in this year’s budget could be used to purchase items in this category to save for next year. A $3,000 cut in gasoline, oil and other lubricants recommended by Estabrook was accepted by the board, and with the same thought in mind, the board reduced money budgeted for custodial supplies by $2,000.
The fuel line item was cut by $3,000, and $1,000 was taken from building materials. “With the money for building materials, we were going to replace all of the soiled window shades in the buildings, but perhaps we can get along without replacing all of them,” said Estabrook.
