Rappahannock High’s track teams competed in the Bull Run District Meet on Friday, May 10 in Berryville. The girl’s team placed fifth overall and the boys placed seventh. Seven girls and eight boys will represent Rappahannock at the Regional “B” Meet on May 17 at Western Albemarle.

Girls who placed at the district meet were: seconds; Connie Compton in the shot put with 32’6 3/4", Anita Delgrosso in the 100 meter high hurdles with a time of 17.8; thirds; Katheryn Davis in the long jump with 15’ 1/2”, Donna Williams in the shot put with 31’4 3/4”, Delgrosso in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 54.1; fourths; Wendy Stringfellow in the shot put with 29’3”, Kelly Bristol in the 100 meter high hurdles with a time of 18.8; fifths; Chandra Davis in the discus with 80’4”; sixths; the 400 meter relay team.

“The girls placed in six of the 12 events, and they packed the shot put and low hurdles,” said Coach Ann Spieker. “Five events will be contested at in the Regionals.”

Placers for the boys were: seconds; James Dennis in the high jump with 5’8”, the 1600 meter relay team; thirds; David Fischbein in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 16.7, Ronnie Atkins in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4;42.9; fourths; Dexter Freeman in the long jump with 19’4”,
