Mayor Kramer said that he would change the fine amount to $10. Wickens asked if the ordinance would address any other dog problems such as barking dogs. “It talks about dogs that bite or make nuisances of themselves, but it does not talk about barking dogs,” Mayor Kramer said. “I don’t want to make this thing complicated, and I think that the major problem is dogs on the streets and we she uld get something on paper to take care of it. ”
Barking dogs could be handled using the state disturbing the peace code, said Fran Eldred, a town resident. Eldred is a magistrate, and Mayor Kramer asked her to look the code up and report on her findings at thb June meeting when the public hearing on the dog ordinance will be held.
Willis asked that the warden call her before any unclaimed town dogs are disposed of. Mayor Kramer said that that request would be made.
