Invitation
to trail ride
A group of Rappahannock horsemen interested in trail riding is planning a ride for Saturday, June 24. The group will leave at 9 a.m. from Bill Lyne’s house in Gid Brown Hollow and ride into the park, down Piney Branch Trail, across Pickeral Ridge, and back to Mr. Lyne’s house. The ride will take about three hours at an easy pace over clear trails.
Drinks will be provided, but each rider should bring their own picnic lunch.
The group, which includes Mr. Lyne, Billy Dodson, Dick Helmer, Martha Lou O’Bannon, Birgitt Thornhill and Betsy Murray, is hoping to schedule about six rides during the year. If interest warrants they would like to form an associa-* tion to promote trail riding in Rappahannock. Mrs. Murray said, “We would like to have an overnight ride as well as perhaps a moonlight ride later in the year.” Anyone who is interested in more information about the ride should contact Dick Helmer (987-8184 any time), Martha Lou O’Bannon (987-8270 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or Birgitt Thornhill (675-3619 8 to 4:30). Reservations should be made by June 14.
