Raphael explained, “There were four substances and an unknown one. It could either melt at 130 degrees centigrade or 190 degrees centigrade. Ours melted at 130 degrees. We mixed several substances together and found out what the unknown substance was.”
Mrs. Gehringer sat in on the computer section. “It was fantastic. The instructor was so excited about computers. He read from a play called D'Jin and Tonic which was a take off on bits (a computer component). He was so dynamic!”
Mr. Patterson expressed his feelings about enrichment day. “It let them do some things that they can’t do here. For instance, some of them did a lab with a laser which we don’t have. They get the benefit of the expertise of the professors. It gives them a chance to meet other top students in their field.”
“I think it’s good for them to see that other kids have studied some of the things that they’ve studied and to hear about things they haven’t heard about before. Even if they don’t really understand it — just to see that there’s a bigger world out there is important,” he concluded.
