A workshop in children’s literature featuring noted children’s authors Steve Kellogg, Katherine Paterson and Nancy Larrick will be held June 23-27 at Shenandoah College and Conservatory, Winchester.
The course, open to teachers, librarians, parents and college students, focuses on how children can better understand themselves and their world through children’s literature. Techniques of using children’s literature to teach reading and writing skills will also be discussed.
A student may elect to take the course for two or three hours of graduate or undergraduate credit.
Kellogg has written and illustrated more than a dozen picture books and illustrated more than 50 children’s books. He has been a guest speaker at hundreds of schools and libraries throughout the nation. He is known for the Pinkerton books, The Island of the Skog and The Mysterious Tadpole.
