Donkeys do have some character traits distinguishing them from horses. They’re very calm, even with strangers and in unknown circumstances. They’re less prone to disease and digestive ailments, more likely to protect themselves from exhaustion, more careful where they put their feet.

This last characteristic may be what earned them the reputation of being stubbpm, says Linda. “They just won’t go somewhere that they think is dangerous,” she said. “And they won’t go, no matter what.”
