Culpeper Memorial Hospital recently commemorated the milestones of 23 loyal employees who have helped CMH provide competence, care, compassion, and courtesy to local residents throughout the years.
Among those honored at the annual Service Awards Banquet on May 15 was Bob Somerville, a 25-year veteran of the CMH Building and Grounds Department. Chief Engineer Somerville, who has been with Cullpeper Memorial since 1960, literally helped lay the foundation at CMH. He says his memory has served him well, especially when researching hospital blueprints for remodeling and renovation projects. Mr. Somerville is immediate past-president of the Ruritans and enjoys life on the family farm in Mitchells. President Bill Gravely presented Somerville with an engraved brass clock as a token of appreciation for his many years of devoted service.
Honored for 20 years of service was Joyce Weakley, who works in the CMH laboratory. Formerly a lab technician, she now devotes most of her time to drawing blood and processing paperwork for the lab department. Weakley says she enjoys her work and proved it by admitting she was glad to be back with her chums after a week’s vacation. Weakley is an energetic mother of two; she enthusiastically supports the aerobic exercise program sponsored by CMH and enjoys reading by the pool during hot summer days.
