Specifically, participants in the all-day workshop will create figures that will sit as art in the seats of the Gay Street Theater. They’ll mold plaster-soaked gauze — the same material used to make casts for broken limbs — over old masks or shape it free-form into faces. Gauze will be wrapped around fingers to harden and then lifted off to make hands for the figures. Hose will be stuffed for arms and legs; shoes and socks stuffed for feet.
