Participants in the cooperative, creative, improvisational, mannekin-making workshop will assemble at Blackwater Homestead near Boston on Saturday, August 23, at 10:30 a.m. They’ll break for a potluck lunch from 12:30 to 2 p.m. ana men create again until 4 p.m. Although the workshop is scheduled for the entire day, participants will be free to come and go as they please.
“Anyone who plans on coming — even if they’re remotely interested and think they just might participate — should call me, so I know what they may bring,” Ms. Drevas said. RAAC will supply paints and the plaster-soaked gauze. The mannekin makers will be asked to bring old hose, stuffing materials, masks to serve as the starting point for faces, mittens and gloves for hands, socks and shoes for feet, wigs, jewelry, clothes, handbags —“any special little somethings that you want to see on this human being who’ll be sitting in the Gay Street Theater,” Ms. Drevas said, adding that a row of movable theater seats will be hauled from the theater to Blackwater Homestead for the workshop.
And in addition to supplies for their creative endeavors and a contribution for the potluck lunch, participants are asked to bring bathing suits and towels for a dip in the indoor pool. “Otherwise, just bring ideas and creativity. It’s a free workshop,” Drevas added. “Just leave your inhibitions at home.”

As an arm of the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community, the Artists Forum focuses on the arts in Rappahannock County, providing times arid places for artists to talk with each other about items of mutual interest. The workshop on August 23 at Blackwater Homestead is the second in the current series of programs; the next will be a panel discussion for visual artists and crafts people on expanding markets for their work. That panel mil be held on Saturday, September 20, also at Blackwater Homestead.
