Smith files for
revenue post
Phillip L. Smith of Huntly has filed for the post of Commissioner of Revenue for Rappahannock County. “I m accustomed to long hard hours of work, and will strive for excellence if given the opportunity,” Mr. Smith said.
Mr. Smith is employed by Transamerica Financial Resources as a financial products and services representative. He and his wife Traude are co-owners of Hillsdale Grocery at Massie’s Comer.
Mr. Smith graduated from American University in 1973 with a bachelor of science degree, majoring in accounting and a minor in marketing. He served in the Marine Corps in intelligence from 1958 to 1969, and is a Vietnam veteran.
The Smiths have been Rappahannock residents since 1975. They have a small farm near Willis Chapel in Huntly, where they live with thenson Alex. Mr. Smith is a member of the Rappahannock Lions Club.
“If I am elected, I will devote myself to serving you as commissioner to the best of my abilities. I believe that honesty and hard work coupled with common sense and education can solve any problem we may be faced with. Please vote on November 4th — it’s your constitutional right, don’t give it up,” Mr. Smith said.
