Manuel Velasquez
Mr. Manuel Velasquez, 87, of Washington, died Saturday, August 16, 1986, at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville following a long illness.
A great lover of nature, he was the son of the late Juan Pedro and Rita Zegarra Velasquez. He was retired from Import Export and had lived in the Town of Washington for five years. In addition to a deep love of arts and a fine woodcarver, Mr. Velasquez sang, composed and played the guitar.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clarissa MacRae Velasquez and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Thursday, August 21 by the Rev. Jennings Hobson.
Contributions niay be made to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
George R. Clater Jr.
George Roxie Clater, Jr., 63, of Sperryville, died Saturday, August 16 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Martinsburg, West Virginia, following a long illness. Mr. Clater was a native and lifetime resident of Sperryville, Rappahannock County and a son of the late George Roxie Clater, Sr. Mr. Clater was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his mother, Ethel Atkins Clater of Sperryville; four brothers, Isaac M. Clater of Castleton, Robert S. Clater of Manassas, Gid B. and Jack S. Clater, both of Sperryville and one sister, Cleo C. Dodson of Sperryville.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 19 at the Sperryville Cemetery. The Rev. Douglas Farmer and the Rev. Merlin Shorb officiated.
Active pallbearers were Randy Clater, Wilson Burke, Donald Gore, Carson Johnson, Elmer Atkins and Billy Mundy.
