Woman’s Club to meet
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet on Tuesday, August 26 at 8 p.m. at the home of Peggy Wright near Viewtown. All members are urged to attend.
Jenkins family reunion planned
The annual reunion for the relatives and friends of the late Luther E. and Ada F. Jenkins will be held at the picnic area of Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria, on August 24 from 10 a.m. until dark. Those attending are asked to bring a picnic lunch, which will be served at 1 p.m.
Lions to meet
The Rappahannock Lions Club will meet on Wednesday, August 27 at 7 p.m. at the Corner Post Restaurant in Flint Hill. All members are urged to attend.
Wharton family reunion
The annual family reunion of the late Henry T. Wharton and Lillie M. Cloude Wharton, will be held September 6 at the Rappahannock Park. Relatives and friends are invited. ’’Please come, join in, bring a picnic basket and enjoy,” said a family spokesperson.
Herb wreath workshop
A herb wreath workshop will be held at Faith Mountain in Sperryville on Saturday, August 23 from 1-4:30 p.m. “Come and create your own ten inch herb wreath using all the material you can ever imagine,” said owners, Martin and Cheri Woodard. Everyone will take home a completed wreath. Those attending are asked to bring scissors and wire cutters. Also included will be a demonstration of herb and flower drying methods. The class enrollment is limited to 16, therefore advanced registration is required. Call 987-8521 for further information. The cost of the workshop is $30.
R.E.C. membership meeting
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative will hold its Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, August 23 at Spotsylvania High School in Spotsylvania. Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. with the Business Session to follow at 1:00 p.m. Cooperative members will elect four directors to serve three year terms on the Cooperative Board.
Frank D. Ashley, REC President, and Guy C. Lewis, Jr., REC Executive Vice-President and General Manager, will review the Cooperative’s 1985 operation in their reports to the membership. The program will conclude with an open Question and Answer Period and the awarding of door prizes to some lucky members. All Rappahannock Electric Cooperative members are encouraged to attend and participate in their organization’s Annual Meeting.
Building fund benefit planned
On Saturday, August 30 at 8 p.m. Lillian Aylor will be giving a concert at Promise Land Baptist Church. She will be accompanied by James R. Freeman, Jr. This program will benefit the building fund.
Children’s karate lessons
A twelve week series of karate lessons for children ages six and up will begin on Wednesday, September 3 at The Child Care and Learning Center. The course is open to boys and girls at beginning or advanced level. Classes will be held each day from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Call the Center to register at 675-3237.
