Miss Virginia Stringfellow,
a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Stringfellow of Amissville was crowned queen of the festival Friday night by Miss Nancy Settle, outgoing queen. She was presented a bouquet of red roses and a $25 cash award.
Ivan M. Rankin of Front Royal was forced to land his privately owned plane in a hay field on Foster’s farm in Flint Hill Monday morning because the low hanging clouds interfered with visability.

John Maurice O’Bannon, Jr.
of Woodville was among those to make the Dean’s List of Distinguished Students at the University of Richmond. Mr. O’Bannon is taking courses at the summer session of the University and will return for the fall session.
Earl Burke, son of Mrs. Mary Burke of Washington has returned to the States after a year’s duty in Viet Nam where he was stationed with the 15th Aircraft Maintenance Batallion, First Cavalry Division at AnKhe South Viet Nam. He has been in the armed forces for 18 years and this was his second tour of duty in Viet Nam with a 28 month break between. He has also been in Germany, Austria and Korea.
An art exhibit featuring paintings by Miss Carol Ann Rowzie of Amissville will be held at the Wayside Gallery, Middletown, August 15 through 27. Miss Rowzie, a teacher at War
