Barbeque set
for Slaughter
The Culpeper Republican Committee will sponsor a barbecue honoring Representative D. French Slaughter, Jr., on Friday, September 5. The barbecue will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Carlton Clore, Zeuswyn Farm, from six to eight p.m.
General and Mrs. Alexander M. Haig, Jr., will attend as special honored guests of the Committee. General Haig, who is currently Chairman of the Committee for America, is a former Secretary of State Under President Reagan.

Leary attends
ROTC camp
Cadet Joseph F. Leary, Jr., son of Joseph F. Leary Sr. of Culpeper and Luella C. Spellman of Amissville received practical work in military leadership at the U.S. Army ROTC advanced camp, Fort Bragg, N.C.
The six-week camp, attended by cadets normally between their third and fourth year of college, includes instruction in communications, management and survival training.
Successful completion of the advanced camp and graduation from college results in a commission as a second lieutenant in either the U.S. Army, Army Reserve or National Guard for the cadet.
