Lost in the long halls of the gallery, the visitor checks her program for the umpteenth time, looking again at the map to the special exhibit in the east wing. Is this the east wing? Or maybe the west wing? She stops to ask directions from a fellow art lover resting on a chair in the corner. The man doesn’t respond; she notices a fly resting on his nose. She looks closer. This is no fellow art enthusiast — this is art itself, a nouveau master’s mannekin on display next to the old master’s oils.
Jeanne Drevas offers no guarantees that the human forms created in the artists’ forum next weekend will approach that same level of realism. As moderator of the RAAC sponsored workshop, she hopes to see non-artists join artists in making mannekins for the Gay Street Theater.
