was printing up the new ordinance on which the Board has, as yet, never taken a single vote in public.
The outpouring of public opinion and opposition at the multiple public hearings throughout the county, in the largest petition ever signed in this county, and in the local press apparently has not made even a dent in its “momentum,” Mr. Miller. Why? Because you personally want it and are determined to have it.
As I have publicly stated many times, there is but one answer to a group of elected public.^fficials who thus ride rough-shod over the voters: put them out to pasture. Mr. Miller, himself, will be tne first up to > bat, and he, clever fellow, is removing other batters from the line-up, one by one.
The profound negative consequences of this “momentum” to establish throughout this county a regulated, regimented economy and society is very much “on my chest,” as your newspaper puts it at the bottom of its editorial page. To get it off, I am presently working on an article for publication in the News (if you agree to publication) which is tentatively entitled, Planners, Planning and Socialism. It will, I hope and believe, be thought-provoking for your readers; it may even induce some second thoughts in our elected officials. This article will not be merely an academic exercise, derived only from reading what others have written; in it I relate actual , eye-witness accounts and personal experiences, in Nazi Germany immediately before WWII, behind the Iron Curtain immediately after the war and throughout my life of 65 ; years which has not been exactly hum-drum. The proposed article posed for your readers and our pub- - lie officials the question: “Can it happen here?” And will suggest an answer: “It has already started to happen here.”
