When your favorite person’s hospital room begins to look like the botanical gardens, it’s time to come up with something more original to put a smile on that face. Now you can look to Culpeper Memorial Hospital’s dietary department for a gift in good taste.

The idea originated from the immense popularity of “Dinner at the Stork Club," Culpeper Memorial’s special complimentary sendoff for new parents in the Maternal/Child Health unit. Gourmet dinners won rave reviews when they became a built-in feature of the Hospitality Suite, CMH’s new two-room bedroom suite for families who want to stay close by while their loved one recovers. Now everyone can enjoy the gourmet package as a special treat for patients and their guests.

”We make special efforts to accomodate the preferences of our guests,’’ says Tudy Herring, CMH food service director, who master-minded the development of Gourmet Meals. “The gourmet option is open to anyone who is not on a restricted diet, and sometimes we can adjust the meal for those who require modifications."

The charge for this service is small, and going gourmet can lift the spirits by offering a special alternative to the daily menu. The gourmet menu features epicurean delights from appetizer to dessert served in grand fashion complete with china and sparkling glassware. Choose from a variety of entrees, such as succulent Beef Wellington, flavorful Coquille Saint Jacques, or elegant Chicken Normandy.

With five hours notice, Gourmet Meals may be ordered from a special menu from the CMH dietary department. For this elegant departure from the flower basket and balloons, just stop by the CMH dining room or contact the food service director at 829-4334 — and Voila! The only thing missing is the candelabra!
