The second generation of babies is arriving at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.

On April 15, a daughter was born to David and Debbie Jones of Culpeper. David wasthe first baby born at CMH after the hospital opened twenty-six years ago.

Debbie received skilled, compassionate care just as David's mother received in 1960. “The hospital and nurses were real good to me,” said Debbie.

Some things have changed, however. No longer confined to mothers and babies, birth is a family event, and CMH has created a second generation of services to enhance the experience.

To prepare for parenthood, David and Debbie attended Lamaze classes to learn howto participate in the birth of their baby. While Debbie was in labor, David coached her on her breathing. “He was a real help to me,” said Debbie.
