Rappahannock News photo/Lou Hatter THIS DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS survey crew has been retracing the center line of Rt. 211 from the Covington River (Rt. 622, Gid Brown Hollow) to the beginning of the Washington bypass. According to survey supervisor Frank Brown, the team’s job is to update the last survey, done in the late 1960s. “Any new structures, power poles, culverts, entrances, elevation changes, any change within a couple of hundred feet of the right-ofway has to be noted on our maps,” Mr. Brown said. The updated survey is sent to Richmond, he added. Mr. Brown knew of no immediate plans for changes to Rt. 211 between Washington and Sperryville, which is slated for eventual conversion to four lanes.
