To the editor:
I do not know how many citizens of Rappahannock this letter will concern but I feel the need, as a mother, and also as a human being to let people know the displeasure I felt on seeing my daughter after her less than 24 hours spent in Rappahannock County Jail.
Ruth Ann was stopped and taken to jail on Wednesday night, October 1, for driving under the influence. I, as any parent should be, was greatly disturbed by this and do hope the Court can help her so it does not happen again.
Another of my main concerns at this time is the fact of howr Ruth Ann was mistreated while in jail. Her hands were hand-cuffed, and her ankles shackled. Her bed had no mattress. When she was released she had bruises over most of her body, wrists and ankles sore and her back was inflamed.
She had been told by a State Policeman while in jail, to shut up, or he would put a straight jacket on her and gag her.
I am not trying to state with this letter that my daughter did no wrong. I really am trying to get
