And now Karen s comments which pose some problems for me:
1. ) Science courses, in general.
Many students in high school, I think, prefer biology courses over physics and chemistry courses (when they can choose) because the former is not as rigorous and demanding of the student as the latter two. The reason appears to be the different mathematical preparation required to handle the three science courses. Mathematics is not a subject for opinions and speculation; one must be comfortable with mathematics or progress in physics, for example, will be limited. I do agree, however, that adequate lab facilities for experiments help in the instruction of all three courses and that more adequate labs might attract more students to these important courses and would promote their understanding of the concepts involved.
2. ) Graduation exercises as a justification for a basketball superdome.
I suggest that these exercises be held on a Saturday a.m. or p.m., in the open, as is done at Wakefield School and in many colleges. God will not guarantee the weather in advance anymore than He does for the other schools or even for Redskin football games (rain was predicted for their game with Dallas).
3. ) High School students should not suffer because they live in a small county. Residents should be willing to pay more for fewer students.
