Lee Bird: “I understand there are some seats from the old gym available for refurbishing, enough for one side of the new gym ... In view of budgetary considerations, I would stay with that for at least one year. I’m in favor of doing everything that’s needed, everything we can do for academic purposes, but this is the kind of thing that can be subordinated for a year or so. ”
Charles Estes: “I want to see the expansion project completed in its entirity as designed.”
Mike Massie: “Dr. Gangel told me they have somebody ready to do the refurbishing of the old seats. That will take care of part of what we need . . .They’ve already raised $2,000 for this from private sources. I think the solicitation effort should continue, but if that comes up short, we have no choice but to finish the building.”
Ellis Bingham: “I’m amazed the problem is there to begin with. It’s another example of crisis management. . . It’s great that we have private donations but the supervisors have a responsibility to finish this. As far as athletics vis a vis academics, each is just as important as the other... for boys and girls, but especially for your little males. In order to have a healthy mind, he must have a healthy body.”
