A bus is approaching high water. A bus has brake failure. There is a bus accident with injured children. On a very cold, snowy morning the Gid Brown Hollow bus slides into a ditch. Two high school students are sent by the bus driver to walk a half mile to the nearest house to call the school for help. What if . . . nobody had been home - another half mile? What if . . . the driver was injured during an accident? What if... ?
Rappahannock County has been faced with each of these situations. The only options the bus driver had of communicating the emergency to the school were for the driver to send a child to get help, go himself and leave a busload of children, or risk driving back to the school with a malfunctioning bus or with injured children.
