1/2 tap. cinnamon 3 c. chopped apples i 1/2 cups chopped nuts Sauce: 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. butter (1 stick) 1 c. light cream or half and half 1 tsp. extract (your choice) Cream butter, gradually add sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices, gradually add to egg mixture. Stir in apples and nuts. Turn into greased 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Serve with hot butter sauce. Paper Bag Apple Pie Submitted by Mrs. Frank Donald 19-inch unbaked pie crust 6 c. tart cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced (about two pounds) 1 c. sugar 2 T. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar 3 T. butter or margarine Prepare pie crust according to recipe or package directions. In a large bowl toss apples with sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, lemon juice and seasonings until well coated. Spoon into pie shell. In small bowl combine 1/2 cup flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or two knives until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Place pie in large, brown heavy-duty paper bag. Fold open end over twice. Seal with large paper clips. Preheat oven, 400 degrees F. Bake 45-50 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Makes 6 servings.
