It was just one of those fluky things. The law changed and nobody knew anything about it until after the fact.”
Mr. Luke declined to say who brought the code revision to his attention.
Those interested in being considered for the appointment are being asked to submit their names in writing to the Clerk’s Office. Mr. Luke said he has also advised the board to add any nominations made at the Oct. 19 public hearing to that written list with the name chosen as the Hampton District representative to come off the list.
Mr. Lee will resign, effective midnight, Oct. 18. “I told them that the best thing was for me to resign,” Mr. Lee said in a telephone interview Monday night. “The way it was, my being on the board was no good at all/'
He confirmed that he is a candidate for the seat.
