The PTA is undertaking a major fundraising campaign during the month of October to raise funds for the communication system. Their goal is $5,000. If this goal is met a base station and the first five priority radios can be purchased. Rent on the tower is $30-$50 per month which the PTA will pay for this year but this will be worked into the budget for following years.
Elementary school children are selling tickets for a prize to raise money for the initial radio purchase. The child who sells the most tickets will receive a $50 prize. The awarding of the $300 and announcement of the highest salesman will take place at the Halloween Sock Hop Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. Any individual or business interested in donating money for the communication system may contact PTA President Cindi Andreoni at 987-8750.
“I know from personal experience that a good working communication system would be a fabulous asset to the school, county and community at large,” said Dr. Gangel. “The Community Shared Repeater System is the best route at the least cost.”
