NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT OF SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER Due to a change in the enabling legislation governing the agj pointment of School Board members, which took effect prior to the aqj pointment of Mr. Bryant Lee to said body, but subseqqent to the publiif hearing held to consider nominations for the position, some cjyestiof has been raised as to the legal affect of said appointment. ’ * 5 The change involved was a requirement that no nominee or api plicant whose name had not been considered at a public hearing sha] be appointed as a school board member (SS 22.1-29.1; 1987, c. 4302 Code of Virginia). This amendment took effect on July 1,1987. Accordingly, so that full and complete compliance with the Cod< of Virginia may be assured, notice is hereby given, pursuant to Virginia Code Section 22.1-29.1, that the Rappahannock County Board of Su pervisors will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 19th, at 10:0( o’clock a.m., in the Courthouse at Washington, Virginia, to receive thJ views of citizens concerning the appointment to the Rappahannocl County School Board of a person to fill the vacancy created by the res ignation of Mr. Bryant Lee, which is effective midnight, October 18 1987. : All persons interested in being considered for this appointmeri are encouraged to submit their names in writing to the Clerk's office. ; Submitted By: Diane Bruce, Clerk Board of Supervisors o{ Rappahannock County
