In an article in the Daily News Record on September 28, 1987, William Chase of Culpeper, the Democratic candidate for the Senate seat now held by Senator Kevin Miller of Harrisonburg, was quoted as saying that “I have not seen Senator Miller in Culpeper before this year’s election.”
As Senator Miller’s Administrative Assistant, I assist in setting up his visitation schedule for his district. Each year before the session of legislature, we schedule visits to each jurisdiction in the 26th Senatorial District to hear requests and suggestions from citizens and local officials. These meetings are held in Harrisonburg (Rockingham County), Luray (Page County), Washington (Rappahannock County), Madison (Madison County), Warrenton (Fauquier County) and Culpeper (Culpeper County). Before each of these meetings, we send a news release to the newspapers and radio stations covering these areas to notify the public of the time and place it will be held.
