That was the conclusion of the Virginia Department of Transportation’s engineers who conducted a “value engineering study” this past May for the proposed dual-laning of Rt. 211 between Washington and Sperryville.
“Accident history indicates that this road section is well below state average. The traffic has increased only 1,000 VPD (vehicles per day) in the past 10 yrs. due to Int. 66, and current improvements to Rte 17 will further limit the traffic/truck usage,” reads the hand-written report turned in by the eight-member team.
