County administrator John McCarthy and the Rappahannock supervisors met twice last week and again this Monday with representatives of the three companies that submitted proposals for maintaining dumpster sites and hauling refuse to the new landfill near Amissville and ■ providing operational support at the landfill itself.
According to Mr. McCarthy, no action was taken during the closeddoor sessions. “We expect a decision will be made by next week.”
The county administrator also reported that the North Carolina firm Geo-Visions has completed seismic tests on future fill areas of the 99acre Stover tract to determine if the rock ridges discovered in the initial trench extend through the balance of the landfill site.
The county has received no word yet from the State Department of Waste Management which is reviewing proposed changes in the design of phase I of the landfill.
