In compliance with a new state mandate, Rappahannock will provide remedial education when schools reopen this fall, serving from 15 to 20 students at every grade level. According to county school officials, that figure constitutes approximately 20 percent of the system’s total enrollment.
The state requirement calls for remedial education for all students who scored in the bottom quarter of standardized tests: the Iowa Test of Basic Skills administered last year in grades three through nine, the latest SR A results for 10th- and llth-graders, and assessments to be made this fall for students in kindergarten and first grade.
