The Commander Submarine Squadron Seventeen takes pleasure in commending Missile Technician Second Class (SS) Michael Shawn White, United States Navy for service as set forth in the following Citation,
“For outstanding performance of duty while attached to and serving in USS OHIO (SSBN 726) GOLD as a member of the Strategic Missile Division from October 1984 to July 1988. J
Petty Officer White consistently performed his demanding duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. His detailed knowledge of the Strategic Launcher System and superior watchstanding as a Launcher Supervisor contributed directly to the successful completion of seven Strategic Detterent Patrols, the first Tndent Mini-Demonstration and Shakedown Operation and a Follow-On Operational Test.
His outstanding knowledge of nuclear weapons safety and security requirements were direct contributors to his crew’s superior performance during four consecutive Nuclaer Weapon Technical Inspections. Petty Officer White’s outstanding professional performance and total dedication to duty reflected great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Submarine Force and the United States Naval Service,” said M. P. Gray, Captain, United States Navy.
Missile Technician Second Class (SS) White is the son of Mrs. Doro- * thy White of New Church, formerly of Washington and the late Mr. Emmett White. He is a 1981 graduate of Wakefield School.
