the State Corporation Commission considers the threshhold limit for complaints. He was told that six complaints per 100 service connections each month is considered unacceptable. For the ‘675’ exchange, which has 825 services, that means that 48 complaints each month would indicate to the SCC that Centel is not providing adequate service.

“I would ask that anyone who has a problem with service to report it to Centel," Mayor Morehouse told the audience at the courthouse. “Be as specific as possible, including the time of day and the telephone number affected.

Mr. Morehouse added that the telephone number for Centel’s business office is 675-3498, and for repairs is (800) 222-0611 (toll free).

Town Attorney Frank Reynolds told the council that his business telephone was out of service three times during the first week in August, and incoming callers got only a busy signal or an announcement that the number was out of service. He said that he called the Centel business office and also wrote a letter with a “cc:” (a carbon copy) to the SCC.
