Beahm-Bolen reunion planned
Descendants, friends and relatives are invited to the fifth annual George Washington and Nancy Bolen Beahm family reunion Sunday, Sept. 4, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Rappahannock Park on Route 211 near Washington.

Pork referendum
The U.S. Dept, of Agriculture will hold a referendum on the continuance of the Pork Checkoff as authorized by the 1985 Farm Bill. All producers who owned hogs or pigs, and those who handled pork or pork products between Nov. 1, 1986 and Sept. 6, 1988 are eligible to vote. This includes 4-H, FFA and other youth. The Rappahannock Extension Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for voting both days. Information or absentee ballots may be requested by calling the Extension Office in Washington (675-3619) or stopping by the office on Gay St.
Jon Spelman at Gay St.
On Aug. 27 Jon Spelman’s “Grease Heat: Tales from the American Landscape” will be presented at Washington’s Gay Street Theater at 8 p.m. This performance will be for mature audiences. Mr. Spelman is a professional talker and storyteller whose popular children’s program appears weekly on public television. Tickets are $7.50 at the door or may be reserved in advance by sending a check for $6 each to RAAC, P.O. Box 24, Washington, Va. 22747.
