Keception to follow concert Because of the overwhelming community interest in the Jesse Winchester concert Friday, Oct. 14, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community has scheduled a reception for the artist and the public immediately after the concert at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington. Everyone attending the concert is welcome to attend.
GED classes offered The Rappahannock Literacy Volunteers are offering classes for residents who are preparing to take examinations for their General Equivalency Diploma, which offers adults who did not complete high school an opportunity to earn their high school diploma. The classes will be held each Monday evening from 7-9 at the county library. There is no charge for the service, and interested residents should call the library (675-3780) to sign up. Chorus to sell box lunches The C. E. Dearing Gospel Chorus will sell box lunches on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, at the Trinity Episcopal Church. They will also sponsor a bake sale.
Farmers' Market bazaar Craftspeople are encouraged to sign up now for space at the annual Christmas bazaar held by the Culpeper Farmers’ Market. This year the bazaar will be held Nov. 26 and Dec. 10 from 9 to 3. Cost is $10 for a side space and $7.50 for a center space. Genealogy roundtable The Central Virginia Genealogical Association will hold a Genealogy Roundtable on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11:45 at Ken Johnson’s Cafeteria in Barracks Road Shopping Center on Emmet St., Rt. 29, in Charlottesville. The public is invited to meet wih members in the lobby, have lunch and share genealogy hints and sources. Following lunch, Barbara Little will speak on “Orange County Land and Personal Property Taxes.” She has published books on Orange County and articles in The Magazine of Virginia Genealogy. There will be a $2 charge for non-members, in addition to the cost of lunch.
