by the Eustis family of Washington publishing fame.

The 200-year-old property was given finally by the Eustis family to the National Trust. For 25 years, the gardens had been a tangle of overgrown boxwoods and weeds but its surrounding walls and walkways still embraced a potentially beautiful garden.

Five years ago, an extensive renovation of the gardens was undertaken by the National Trust. Mr. Siani and his staff have pruned, coddled and coached the massive boxwoods back to their former glory until today it is a monument to man’s perseverance.

Hostesses for this enjoyable day were Helen Fairfax and Dot Mank.
