The Amissville Baptist Church will celebrate its centennial at homecoming Oct. 30. Worship serv ice begins at 11 a.m. followed by lunch and a musical program in the afternoon. Everyone is invited to share in this special observance.
The congregation expressed deep appreciation to interim pastor Rev. James Floyd who has been a great blessing to everyone during his 11 months at the church. The new pastor, Rev. Thomas Everett from the Eastern Shore, will be attending the homecoming, but will not assume his responsibilities until Nov. 6. The congregation extends a warm welcome to Mr. Everett.
The Methodist Women held their monthly meeting on Wednesday at the home of Margaret Barron, formerly of Viewtown now living in Fredericksburg, where they enjoyed a covered dish dinner.
The United Methodist Church observed Men’s Day on Sunday. They enjoyed their homecoming service the previous Sunday.
The Methodist Women invite everyone to attend their annual yard sale of crafts, baked goods, etc. to be held Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information or to donate items call president Pauline Latham at 937-4515, vicepresident Judy Chandler at 937-4827 or Christine Judd at 347-3158. The Ruritans will observe Ladies Night Nov. 16 at the fire house.
The Fire Department plans a Halloween party on Sunday, Oct. 30, tentatively set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. More details later. We do know there will be a costume contest so you can get started now with your ideas.
