The bath features a lovely stained glass window by Patti Mullan of Sperryville, who also made the beveled glass transom above the French doors in the bedroom.
To the right of the home is another old structure which has served since the 1800s as cooperage, cobbler shop, butcher shop and most lately a pottery.
The deeds to the property can be traced back to 1754 but the old buildings are believed to have been standing when George Washington came here in 1749 and . .in the Blue Ridge Mountains. . .laid off a town.” The house was first owned by a Baltimore merchant named Fossett; at that time the community was linked economically to Baltimore and local tobacco was shipped there.
