Rappahannock County and its high school continue a 10-year-old tradition this year, playing host to seven foreign exchange students. The seven, from Europe and South America, will join in classes, sports and activities with their Rappahannock counterparts at the high school and will live with host families around the county.
According to exchange program coordinator Scott Currie, this year's “class” is the largest number of exchange students to visit the county in one year since the first exchange student came to Rappahannock in 1978. His host family. Brad and Dawn Fisher of Washington, have since had four other foreign students as extended guests. They all returned in August 1987 for a reunion.
For this year’s visitors, Mr. Currie said the school is planning a variety of events, including “exchange holidays.”
