She doesn’t like being so far from “things” (cities and towns, stores and restaurants).
At her school in Holland there are no elective courses. The school hours change from day to day, and there are no organized sports teams. Marjanke added that the students cannot buy lunches at her school, as they can at RCHS.
Marjanke would like to see as much of America as possible, she said, especially the beaches of California and Kings Dominion.
Teemu Huuhtanen is from Nelsea, Finland. He has also been recruited by the Rappahannock soccer team, bringing skills he honed in his native country.
Teemu eryoys a variety of hobbies, including slalom skiing, snow boarding, skateboarding, basketball and listening to music. His favorite Finnish musical group is the “Stones,” and he likes popular groups like “Megadeath” and “Def Leppard.”
Jens-Ejnar Madsen is from Taerenburg, Denmark. He came to America, he said, mainly because it is greatly advertised. In Denmark, the Danes hear of America every day.
Jens is a soccer player in Denmark as well as here in Rappahannock County. He is also playing soccer at his adopted American high school.
He likes all kinds of music, but prefers rock.
Jens notices one difference in the way school is conducted here as compared with Denmark. At home, he said, the students remain in the same classroom all day and the teachers rotate through each class.
