Julia Settle
Julia Miller Settle, 87, of Flint Hill died Sept. 29 in the Royal Haven Rest Home, Front Royal.
Mrs. Settle was born Nov. 23, 1900 in Washington, daughter of the late John J. and Evelyn Tyler Miller. She was married to the late James M. Settle, who was clerk of the court of Rappahannock County for 40 years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and of the Rappahannock County Garden Club and the Warren Memorial Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Surviving are one son, James M. Settle Jr., Alexandria; three daughters, Mary S. Bowersett, Venice, Fla., Evelyn S. Petersen, Alexandria and Carol S. Bowersett, Silver Spring, Md.; one sister, Nancy M. Booth, Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Oct. 3 in the Masonic Cemetery in Washington by the Rev. Jennings W. Hobson III.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, Va. 22747 or to the charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal.
