That was elite company: of the 372 establishments world-wide in the 1988 guide, only 13 others are in the United States. i But the Red Shield, which will be formally presented at ceremonies this November in Belgium heralding the release of the 1989 listings, puts The Inn among the creme de la creme. It is the single inn in America to be declared a Relais Gourmand, the restaurant division of the Relais et Chateaux devoted to fine restaurants at a superior level recognized by the principal gastronomic guides.
