Barbara Greco, a Warren County civic activist, has announced her intention to seek the 31st District delegate’s seat being vacated by Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr.
Mrs. Greco becomes the first Democrat to jump into the race for the seat, which has been in Republican hands since Mr. Guest was first elected to the House of Delegates in 1971. “I think that this is an excellent opportunity for the Democrats to recapture the seat,” Mrs. Greco said Tuesday.
After announcing his candidacy for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, Mr. Guest said he did not intend to seek reelection to his seat in the House of Delegates, where he also serves as Minority Leader. “It’s either up or out,” he said, explaining that, “it’s not proper to do both. It’s more important to get the best person in the seat than to play roulette.”
Mrs. Greco has served on the Warren County Crime Commission, and is a founder and past president of the Warren County Council on Domestic Violence. She has also served on the county’s Industrial Development Au
