Payne retires

The Amissville Post Office announced today that William L.. “Red” Payne has retired from thp United States Postal Service after 20 years of service.
Mr. Payne, a longtime resident of Amissville, began his postal career in 1968 as a substitute rural carrier. He was promoted to th£ position of regular rural carrier in 1972.
“Mr. Payne’s exemplary record includes 20 years of dedicated service to the Amissville community without a single accident, three sa(8 driving awards and a letter of cort| mendation,” postmaster Lin<n Lawler said.
She added, “Red is certainly orte of the friendliest and most dedicate employees I have ever worked witK Working with Red was always a refd pleasure. All of us in Amissville, cei» workers and postal customers alikij will dearly miss the way he alwayj brightened our day.”
