To the editor:
I address this letter to other concerned parents of Rappahannock County. ■C On Monday, the country paid tribute to a great person who happened to be among us for a very short time: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Since 1988, Dr. King’s birthday has been proclaimed by the Congress to be a national holiday. Many schools and businesses were closed for this great man’s birthday and numerous programs in and around the area were held in his honor.
I was quite disappointed to find that the Rappahannock County public schools did not follow this new-found tradition and let our children have the day off to honor this great civil rights leader.
