A woman may devote herself to her family, leaving no time or energy to devote to her own mental or emotional growth. That too, can lead to the symptoms of stress, because her life is also out of balance. Too much energy is going out and she is not getting enough in return.
We all have to recharge our batteries, and have time when we can be nourished emotionally and spiritually.
The new year provides an excellent benchmark for all of us to evaluate our lives, our priorities and the direction we are headed. If the balance needs adjustment, new priorities can be established. Scheduling and establishing goals are helpful tools in obtaining balance.
Often, the process of establishing balance, of setting new priorities is not easy, but it will not happen unless we make decisions and then act on them. In the long run, having our lives in balance benefits our interactions with family, friends, employees and others — as well as ourselves.
